Alliance Data Systems Corporation is a publicly traded loyalty and marketing service provider, such as a private labeled credit card, coalition loyalty program, and direct marketing, derived from transaction-rich data capture and analysis.

The Alliance Data is formed from the merger of two entities December December 1996: J.C. Penney Credit Card processing unit and credit card bank operations The Limited, named World Financial Network National Bank.
In August 1998, Alliance Data obtained LoyaltyOne, then branded The Loyalty Group Canada, for $ 250 million. The deal gave Alliance Data two valuable business enhancements, Canada's Air Miles Rewards Program and the company behind the popular Air Miles program, LoyaltyOne.
In May 2007, Alliance Data and The Blackstone Group, a private equity firm, announced plans for a Data Alliance to be acquired by The Blackstone Group. In April 2008, the Alliance Data ended the merger agreement with Blackstone Affiliates.
Ed Heffernan was promoted to president and CEO of the Data Alliance in February 2009, having joined the company since 1998.

Alliance Data Card Service
The Card Service is an integrated credit and marketing service provider including private label, co-branded and commercial credit card programs. Alliance Data Card Services manages over 135 card programs for retail brands such as Victoria's Secret, J.Crew, Eddie Bauer, Buckle, HSN, Pottery Barn and Pier 1 Imports.
In 2011, Alliance Data, in partnership with NICE Systems, was awarded the Operational Leadership Award for its customer service center by Ventana Research.
The Alliance Data Card service maintains two banks to manage funding and accounts receivable for its client credit program. In September 2012, banks rebranding their names from WFNNB (World Financial Network [National] Bank) and WFCB (World Financial Capital Bank) to operate under the name of Comenity, as Comenity Bank and Comenity Capital Bank , respectively.
LoyaltyOne
LoyaltyOne, located in Canada, provides a loyalty marketing program for North American brands in retail, financial services, wholesale, petroleum, travel, and hospitality industries.
Five businesses form LoyaltyOne: the national Air Miles rewards program, in which about two-thirds of Canadian households participate; Discussion; LoyaltyOne Consulting; Precima; and Squareknot.
Hewitt Associates named LoyaltyOne the "List of the Best of 2014 Businessmen in Canada."
Epsilon
Epsilon provides a range of loyalty marketing services that include database marketing, direct mail, email marketing, web development, loyalty programs, analytics, data services, strategic consulting, and creative services, among others.
Ad Age has rated Epsilon among the top marketing service companies and direct marketing agencies for several years, and Epsilon has the distinction of being the US Supreme Agency of All Direct Marketing Disciplines and Institutions of US/US Direct Marketing Agents for 2012. This sends billions of permits- email based every year. Acquired by Epsilon in 2011, Aspen Marketing Services is a marketing services agency headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with locations in the United States and Canada. In 2012, Epsilon reached an agreement to acquire a group of Hyper Marketing companies ("HMI"), the largest private digital marketing services agency in the United States, about $ 460 million.
In March 2011, Epsilon detected unauthorized access to its email database, resulting in the theft of clients' email addresses.
In late February 2013, Facebook announced partnerships with four companies, including Epsilon, to help reshape targeted advertising strategies.
Due to Epsilon's growth over the past few years, the company moved its headquarters to Nokia's former regional office in Las Colinas, Texas, near Dallas.

Controversy
In 2010 Epsilon failed to heed warnings to secure data. In March 2011, it was found that email addresses from customers from 50 client companies were stolen. The company quickly notified the public of the violation. In June 2011, company executives were summoned before the congress.
