Story

After graduating from high school in 1996 in Japan, It? Kaiji moved to Tokyo to get a job, but he failed to find a permanent job because the country plunged into its first recession since World War II. Depressed, he grumbled at his apartment, bargaining his time with jokes, gambling, booze, and cheap cigarettes. Kaiji always thinks about money and eternal poverty often makes her cry.

Kaiji's unrelenting suffering continued for two years until he got an unexpected visit from a man named End?, Who wanted to collect the extraordinary debt that Kaiji was careless by signing a contract for his former coworker. End? gave Kaiji two options - either spending ten years to pay off this incredible debt, or boarding an Espoir gambling vessel ("hope" in French) for one night to clear the debt. Using con, End? pressing Kaiji to accept the deal, believing that he will never return from the voyage.

However, Kaiji survived the gambling and was invited to other night gambling, this time at the Starside Hotel. Although initially alerted about the offer, he was encouraged by his Saharan friends to leave. After being the only survivor of the Human Derby, Kaiji decided to avenge his friends by competing in another gambling game prepared by Teiai Corporation; Electronic cards. Kaiji, despite losing his ear, defeated Tonegawa, his opponent on the E-Card. He re-entered in a new game. This time, he lost both the money he won in the battle of E-Card and four of his fingers.

Although Kaiji survives from Starside Hotel, he now has debts of more than 9.5 million yen. He contacted End? hoping to take part in other high-risk stakes. But End? betrayed Kaiji and sent him to Teiai's underground labor camp, where he had to pay off his debts for 15 years. At the labor camp, Kaiji is paid 91,000 pelics per month (10 pelicans equal to 1 Yen) to dig underground empire. It was reduced to 45,000 pelika after Kaiji lost? Tsuki in Chinchirorin. But Kaiji allied with the other 45er (who got 45,000 pelicans per month) to defeat? Tsuki and win enough money for a one-day ticket.

Although Kaiji manages to get out of the forced labor camp with 800,000 Yen using a one-day ticket, he has only 20 days to get the 60 million Yen he needs to buy his freedom and free 45er others. Luckily Kaiji came across Sakazaki who told him about a pachinko game known as Bog at a high-risk casino where Kaiji can win over 550 million yen. Kaiji agrees to help Sakazaki defeat the swamp. However, the casino is owned by Teiai Corporation, and Bog has been rigged in several ways to ensure that it will not pay.

Series 2

Underground Chinchiro ( ???????? , Chika Chinchirorin )
Variations on the dice game, Chinchirorin, this game is made by? tsuki, one of Kaiji's fellow workers in the underground work camp. An important exception to Chinchirorin is that the dealer's rotation moves clockwise, but each player can choose to divert their turn as a dealer. More importantly, there is no automatic win for dealers. If they choose to play dealers, they have to play as dealers twice in a row.
Pachinko "THE BOG" ( ??????? , Pachinko Numa )
Elaborate Pachinko games in high-risk casinos featuring 100% payouts from earnings from machines. Considering this, the house has set measures to ensure victory; such as tightening the nails to ensure only 1 of 100 balls come in, using a fins to hit the ball, and tilt three plates. Previously only two had defeated Bog; Hyung? and Tonegawa. When Kaiji first discovered the Bog jackpot was 550 million yen but when he played it, the jackpot has risen to over 700 million.

Series 3

Mine Field Game "17 Steps" ( ?????? 17 ?? , Jirai G? Mu "17-ho" )
Variations on Mahjong where the game is played with two players who make their best hand out of a random draw of 34 tiles. The player does not draw tiles as usual, but instead takes turns removing the tiles. Since victory can only be expressed by hand simultaneously with the discard, 'ron' is the only way a player wins. If no player reaches the ron after 17 rounds, the game is regarded as a direshuffle tile series, the current bet is doubled.

Series 4

Safety game
The life or death game designed by Kazuya to test whether the friendship between three men is indebted to Kazuya - Mario, from the Philippines, Chang, from China, and Mitsuyama, from Japan - is the right bond. The three men sat in a stairway formation, tied in their chairs with seat belts that could only be released one by one with a release button, and were not allowed to look behind them. They each wear a helmet with lights on it. At the beginning of each round of games, the pots are currently being duplicated, and from three people, one "savior" and two "hostages" are decided through the lights on their helmets. Rescuers must release their seatbelts after 30 seconds, but before 60, and push the button across the room, otherwise the helmets of both hostages will destroy their heads. They must use the power of deduction and observation to determine if they are a savior or a hostage - the player at the top of the ladder is in the best position for this, as he can see the other two player lights. Half way through the game, Kazuya reveals that, if the rescuers fail to save the two hostages, he gets double the entire pot of current rounds. Kaiji was taken as an observer in this game, and often cheered on the three men and challenged the human views that were destroyed by Kazuya.

Series 5

One Poker
The card game uses two standard playing cards decks, designed by Kazuya. Instead of deciding winners through hands like Straight, Flush, etc., Each hand only consists of one card and is ranked according to its normal value, not suitable for taking into account the value at all. Additionally, as in previous E-Card games, the absolute weakest card actually beat the absolute strongest card - 2 is the absolute weakest, and the ace is the absolute strongest, so 2 wins against the ace. If both players play cards of the same value, it is a series. At the beginning of each round, the player has two cards, and must play one of the most valuable cards is the winner. The lights in front of each player indicate whether their card is "up" (higher value) or "down" (lower value). Standard poker betting rules apply and both players' cards are always revealed after betting even if one player is folded (but they do not affect results in that case). In addition, all of this was played at the top of the great tower, on Kazuya's designed mechanical turntable, which he named "Mother Sophie". The table is placed in a set of tracks, and moves towards the edge of the loser side with every loss.
